Advanced procedures
Essure® permanent birth control – Dr. Gee nonsurgically installs small, flexible inserts that work with your body to form a natural barrier that prevents conception. This procedure is performed in Dr. Gee’s office, and most women resume normal activities the following day.
Hysterosonographic diagnosis – With this specialized ultrasound procedure, Dr. Gee can assess certain endometrial abnormalities in her office.
In-office hysteroscopy – If hysteroscopy (a small fiber-optic camera inserted through the cervix) is warranted, Dr. Gee can perform certain hysteroscopy-assisted procedures in the comfort and convenience of her own office rather than in the hospital.
NovaSure® endometrial ablation – This state-of-the-art in-office method treats the uterine lining with radiofrequency energy, providing fast (90 seconds!), effective reduction of heavy menstrual bleeding.
LEEP – With the “loop electrosurgical excision procedure,” Dr. Gee can easily remove abnormal tissue from the cervix while sealing the blood vessels.
Minimally invasive surgery – Dr. Gee is able to perform certain surgeries and treatments with the help of “scopes” that minimize surgical impact. This means smaller incisions, less scarring, less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, shorter recovery time and fewer surgical risks.
Myomectomy – With atypical experience, Dr. Gee can remove uterine fibroids using several methods. Her unsurpassed competence has helped many women avoid hysterectomy, including some who where otherwise recommended.
Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound Surgery (MRgFUS) – Dr. Gee will use a combination of high-intensity ultrasound waves and magnetic resonance imaging to provide a novel non-invasive treatment alternative for fibroids, focusing the ultrasound energy to heat the tissue, causing cell death. Patients are able to return to their normal life within a day or so.
Thermachoice balloon ablation - In 1997, the FDA approved ThermaChoice, the first non-hysteroscopic ablation device to treat excessive uterine bleeding (menorrhagia) due to benign (noncancerous) causes. This treatment is recommended for women who have not yet reached menopause and whose childbearing is completed. It offers a simpler surgical procedure compared to a traditional operative hysteroscopy.
The ThermaChoice Uterine Balloon Therapy System, consists of a balloon that is inserted through the neck of the womb (cervix) and into the uterus. Through a catheter connected to a controller console, the balloon is inflated with fluid and heated to 188° F (87°C) for eight minutes to destroy the uterine lining.
